GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY


Funeral services for Ophelia "Phyl" Laney, 82, of Kilgore will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with Rev. Tim York officiating. Burial will follow in Gladewater Memorial Park.

Mrs. Laney passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at a Longview nursing center. She was born June 18, 1923 in Hominy, OK., to Clarence and Adzel Beekman.

She owned several local businesses including Mac's Radiator Service, Clarksville Beauty Shop and Gladewater Cab Company. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge where she had held every office. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters, Ilene Roberson, Alice Bohler and Marie Carlile; and one brother, Dale Beekman. 

She is survived by one brother, Clarence Beekman, Jr. of Overton; and one sister, Mae Peerson of Indian Springs; three daughters, Marcy and John Rowland, Las Vegas, NV; Debra and I.G. Murry, Powderly, Rebecca Knapps, Liberty City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 until 7 p.m.
