Martin, D.B. GLADEWATER -- Funeral services for D.B. Martin, 96, of Gladewater, will be Monday, February 20, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey Pate and the Rev. Ellis Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Born November 4, 1909, in Troup, Texas, he died Friday, February 17, 2006. He married Dona Maye Buckelew on July 23, 1930, and for 74 3/4 years they walked side-by-side down through life together until her death in March 2005. A resident of Gladewater most of his life, he was owner/operator of the Exxon (Humble) Station on South Main/Tyler Road in Gladewater for 33 years. His hobby was raising tomatoes, an he raised some of the largest and tastiest tomatoes in East Texas. An active member of the First Baptist Church, he was secretary of his Sunday school class and an usher. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alton and Dolores Martin of Lewisville; three granddaughters and spouses, Cathy and Brian Sullivan of Lewisville, Nancy and Kelley Johnson of Midlothian, and Lori and Mike Dean of Bedford; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James H. Byrd of Gladewater; and niece and husband, Patricia and Leon Watson of Gladewater. Pallbearers will be John Patrick, Jim Gee, Leon Watson, Sam Whitten, Jimmy Williams, Jack Buckelew and Tommy Dunagan.
