The Gilmer Mirror June 23, 1977 Birdie Murphy Funeral services for Mrs Birdie E. Murphy, 85, of Dallas were held Wednesday afternoon, June 18 at Croley Chapel with the Rev. George Wilmott officiating. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy died Tuesday morning, June 14 at Oak Cliff Medical and Surgical Hospital in Dallas after a long illness. She had been a housewife and had been a resident of Upshur County most of her life before moving to Dallas. She is survived by one son, Jim Read Murphy of Shady Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Wilda Harris and Mrs. Virginia Lambert, both of Dallas; one brother, Weldon Murphy of Shady Grove; six sisters, Mmes. Ida Belle Calvert of Gilmer, Ada Lea Inman and Flora Maxfield, both of Tyler, Jimmie Cannon and Gussie McDonald, both of Dallas, and Minnie D. Blackstone of Shady Grove; 2 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Pallbearers were Joe Jack Lyle, Moody Dacus, Max Blackstone, Frank Calvert, Lee Cannon, and Roland Lambert.
