GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY


Funeral services for Mr. A. W. (Wayne) Mackey, 93, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Shew officiating. Interment at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater, Texas will follow under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be held Sunday November 18, 2012 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Mackey was born in the West Mountain community of Upshur County, Texas on June 24, 1919 to Auvil Randolph and Mamie Lou Ellison Mackey. He passed away on November 15, 2012 in Marshall. 

Mr. Mackey was a lifelong East Texas resident living in Gilmer, Ore City, Lake O' the Pines, Jefferson and Gladewater. He rarely left East Texas except in 1989, with the insistence of his son, he took a trip to Oregon at 70 years of age. He was a carpenter, truck driver, farmer, and heavy equipment operator. 

Surviving relatives include his children, Harold Wayne Mackey of Jefferson, Sandra Kay Smoak of Katy, Texas, and Marvis R. Mackey of Salem, Oregon, brothers, Thomas Mackey of Hallsville, Texas and Bobby Mackey of Arp, Texas, 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and special family friend, Josie Atwood. 

Pallbearers will be, Steve Falconer, Joey Orms, Jimmy Orms, Kyle Moore, Sonny Reinhardt, and Dwight Hadley.
