GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY


GLADEWATER - Funeral services for Jewel Runette Mathis, 80, of Gladewater, will be 10 a.m. today, October 6, 2009, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater, with Pastor Tom McDaniels officiating. 

Interment will be in Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. 

Mrs. Mathis passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009, at her residence. 

Mrs. Mathis was born August 29, 1929, in Gilmer, Texas, to Virgil and Bertha Kelly. 

She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Gladewater and a Christian. 

She is survived by her son, Edward Mathis of White Oak; daughters, Linda Beall Jones of Gladewater, Dru Shofner of Gladewater, Leah Phrumjuntun of Longview and Jewel Medlin of Gladewater; brother, Richard Dick Kelly of Carlsbad, New Mexico; sister, Fay Keye of Shafter, California; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, John Mathis; son, Johnny Mathis; and brother, Hartie Kelly. 

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
