GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY GLADEWATER - Services for Tressie Opal McGuire, 89, of Gladewater, will be 4 p.m. today, July 20, 2008, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ellis Hayden and L.V. McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Born July 13, 1919, she entered into eternal rest Friday, July 18, 2008. Tressie was affectionately known as "Nanny" to all of her grandchildren and many others who loved her. Her childhood was spent in the San Angelo, Texas, area, and she moved to Gladewater in the early 1970s. She and her husband, W.A. McGuire, purchased and operated a Fina station in Gladewater, where she worked as an accountant. At the time of her retirement, she was working as an insurance clerk for INSCO Insurance Co. in Longview. Tressie was an active member of the Fidelis Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Gladewater. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. McGuire; parents, Virgil and Dessie Brashear; and brother, Travis Brasher. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, L.V. and Brenda McGuire of Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda McGuire of Lancaster, California; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jimmy Davis of Gladewater; five granddaughters, Amy Davis Carter, Audie Fowler, Rhonda McGuire, Vicki McGuire and Lara Jagneaux; two grandsons, Jimmy L. "Bubba" Davis Jr. and Jeffrey Davis; six great-granddaughters; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Lucille Brashear of Dublin; sisters, Vivian Brashear of Stephenville and Ramona Sellars of Gladewater; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jauni McKinley of Gladewater.
