Services for Ruth Elizabeth Dawson McKay, 85, of Garland formally of Gilmer will be held 2p.m. Saturday May 14, 2016 with Bishop Jimmy Coulter presiding at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gilmer. 

The family will receive friends from 11-12 Saturday at the funeral home before the service. 

Ruth was born on October 1, 1930 to William Dawson and Ava Edgar in Gilmer and passed away on May 11, 2016 in Mesquite.

Mrs. McKay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and an expert homemaker.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, son; Robert Daryl McKay, sister; Maureen Hood, and brother; Robert Carrol Dawson.

She is survived by her children; Ronnie McKay and his wife Ginger, Lana Springer and her husband Brad, Wendel McKay and his wife Paula, and Daughter in law Sharon McKay. Brothers; Sam Dawson, Blanton Dawson, and Jimmy Dawson. Grandchildren, Gary Williamson, Michelle Johnson, Billy McKay, Robert Daryl McKay Jr, Wesley McKay, Arlis McKay, James McKay, Mary Kelly, Hollie Walsh, and Rachel Sherman. 28 great grandchildren.
