Sandra Ortiz 
(January 30, 1938 - May 3, 2014) 

Memorial services for Sandra Ortiz, 76, of Gilmer will be 10:00 a.m. 
Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with 
Larry W. Osborne officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of 
Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Ortiz passed away Saturday, May 3, 
2014, in Longview.

She was born January 30, 1938, in Lockport, Illinois to Howard A. and 
Margaret Bradbury Murray. Sandra Ortiz was a Bible “Scholar” and helped 
many people learn to love the Lord by teaching Sunday school and Vacation 
Bible School, and by leading ladies’ Bible studies. She was a homemaker, 
an avid reader and loved a good mystery.

She is survived by the “South Family”, her daughters, Sue Ann Day of 
Longview, Kathleen van Gelder and husband, Frank of Lakewood, WA., and 
Debra Alexander and husband, Ronald of Longview; sister, Jackie Sanchez 
of Kingston, TN.; grandchildren, Karen Lindsey of Gilmer, Laura Eddings 
of Longview, Michael Alexander of Calvert,TX,Caleb Alexander of Longview, 
TX, Katie Howard of Winnemucca, NV, Frank van Gelder, Jr. of Puyallup, 
WA., Kelly van Gelder of Tacoma, WA., great grandchildren, Sydney & Emma 
Lindsey of Gilmer, Madison Mitchel of Longview, Garrett and Trevor Smith 
of Longview, Grace Eddings of Longview, Dalton and Roper Alexander of 
Calvert, TX, Riley and Cooper Alexander of Longview, Keagan Howard of 
Winnemucca, NV, Jayden and Skylar Eddings of Tyler, Brooklyn van Gelder 
of Puyallup WA.; the “Ortiz Family” Eddie Ortiz, of Hesperia, CA, Linda 
Ortiz Ayala of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Lita Ortiz Senior, of Carson, CA., 
Connie Ortiz of Chino Hills, CA., Ricky Ortiz of Rancho, CA., Gai Jeffers 
of West Corina, CA., Chiquita Alvarez of Dallas, TX., Lin-da Grieves of 
Mountain Valley, CA., Khaly Ramirez of California.

Mrs. Ortiz was preceded in death by her first husband, Ridgeway "Russ" 
South on January 15, 1990.
