Perkins, Robert Wayne DIANA -- A celebration of life for Robert Wayne Perkins, 64, of Ore City, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006, at First United Methodist Church in Ore City, with the Rev. John Whitehurst officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Perkins passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006, at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Perkins was born December 23, 1942, in Houston, to Jim Bob and Hazel Perkins. He served in the U.S. Navy as an air crewman in the Air Antisubmarine Squadron 34. Mr. Perkins was the retired owner of R.W. Equipment and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ore City. He was a loving husband and father, and he never met a stranger. Mr. Perkins enjoyed cooking, hunting, and fishing. He loved his dachshunds. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Bobby Lee Perkins. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Sharron Perkins of Ore City; son, Kris Wayne Perkins of Houston; daughter, Tracy Lynn Perkins of Austin; brother, Bill Perkins of Spurger; sisters, Jeanine Johnson of Kingwood, and Ruth Dallas of Clackamas, Ore.; and three grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Schottstaedt, Dr. Frase, Toni, and Wanda, Dr. Taylor, LCC Pharmacy, Texas Health Hospice, and all the special angels at Longview Cancer Center.
