Pilcher, Ila Mae GILMER - Services for Ila Mae Pilcher, 97, of Gilmer, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park of Gilmer. Born December 12, 1909, in Grice Community of Upshur County, she died Monday, July 9, 2007, in Longview. She was a life member and a past worthy matron of Eastern Star - Ashland Lodge and moved her membership to Gilmer. Mrs. Pilcher was a "Pink Lady" of the hospital auxiliary. She taught school for 23 years and was a VFW supporter and a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer. Mrs. Pilcher was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Eugene Pilcher, on June 12, 1997; and her son-in-law, Thomas Powell. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Pilcher of Gilmer; daughter, Barbara Pilcher Powell of Gilmer; grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Loyd Keith of Gilmer, Thomas Powell Jr. and Kathy of Waco, Tonya and Shawn Banks of Florida, Terry and Stephen Henson of Gilmer Scott Pilcher of Gilmer and Lisa and Matt Jones of Gilmer; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pilcher was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest moments in life were Sunday afternoons when all her family was together. Pallbearers will be Scott Pilcher, Michael Ritter, Stephen Henson, Matt Jones, Loyd Keith and Shawn Banks. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
