GUYMON, Okla. -- Vernon Edward Powell Jr., 71, died Sunday, October 8, 2006. He was 
preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert G. Powell; and a sister, Lisa 
Waters. Survivors include his wife, Genevera of the home; daughters, Susan Walker 
and husband, Dave of Fort Worth, and Jennifer Emmert and husband, Greg of Norman, 
Okla.; two sons, Monte Hepner and wife, Lisa of Freedom, Okla., and Tim Hepner and 
wife, Patsy of Tulsa, Okla.; and eight adoring grandchildren, Abbey and Colton 
Walker, Ryan and Benjamin Emmert, Hammons Hepner and Maggie, Liza, and Lane Hepner. 
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, October 11, 2006, at 
Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Burkett, pastor, and 
the Rev. Barry Bennett, associate pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 1 
p.m. Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2006, at the Gladewater Cemetery in Gladewater, 
Texas, with Dr. George Steere, of First Baptist Church in Arcadia, Louisiana, 
officiating. Services are under the direction of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of 
Guymon. Memorial contributions may be given to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for
