GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY Birth: Jan. 31, 1942 DeRidder Beauregard Parish Louisiana, USA Death: Jan. 14, 2002 Gladewater Upshur County Texas, USA Graveside services for Roy Lee "Buddy" Perryman Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Gladewater Memorial Park with Rev. Welton Jones officiating. He was born on Jan. 31, 1942, in DeRidder, La., and died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002. He was a 1959 graduate of Gladewater High School, and he earned his state water and waste water certification through Texas A&M University, along with numerous honors and accomplishments in this field. For 36 years he was employed with the city of Gladewater, the city he loved so well, as Water Superintendent and Public Works Director. He served his community as a Jaycee, President of The East Texas Camp Fire Girls association, and as a Director of the Gladewater Roundup Rodeo Association. He was honored by the Gladewater Chamber of Commerce in 1983 as Man of the Year. He designed and constructed softball fields for the girls and boys of Gladewater, and they named the fields in his honor. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Loretta Ann Kelly Perryman of Gladewater; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Pam Perryman of Gladewater; daughter and sons-in-law, Deborah and Wayne Stewart of Longview and Trish and Jim Wirt of Fort Worth, and his No. 1 grandchildren, Staci Stewart of Longview, Teren Perryman of Gladewater, and Jason Wirt of Arkansas; numerous aunts, neices, nephews, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Sr. and Annie Pearl Perryman, and brother, Robert Edward Perryman. Buddy especially loved God, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He in addition, loved life to the fullest, the people of Gladewater, and especially children. Memorials if desired, may be made to any charitable organization for children. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Croley Funeral home in Gladewater.
