SUNSET MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY

Funeral service for Mr. Dan Phillips, Sr. 73, will be held 2:00 p.m Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Rev. Randall Jinkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mr. Phillips passed away on Tuesday, March, 10, 2015 in Tyler. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. until service time.

He was born on June 19, 1941, in DeKalb, Texas to Wiley Marvin Phillips and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Phillips. Mr. Phillips worked in the filtering department at Stroh’s and also was a dairyman. He loved traveling and horses.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his sons, Danny Phillips of Gilmer; Kelly Phillips and wife Angela of Waskom; daughter, Casey Lawson and husband, Bill of Gilmer; brother, William Milton “Speedy” Phillips of Avery; sisters, Gladys Williams of DeKalb, Della Jo Foster of DeKalb, Sarah Phillips of Rusk, Betty Patterson of Ft. Collins Co., Rosie Phillips of Houston; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Christopher Phillips; brothers, Marvin Phillips, M. D. Phillips and Charles Melvin Phillips and sister,Velma Allen

Pallbearers for his service will be Dan Williams, Roger Williams, Brandon Phillips, Wayne Phillips, Edd Green and Dustin Hodges.
