UPSHUR COUNTY - WILLOW OAK CEMETERY


Gilmer-Celebration of Life for Larry O. Pittmon, 74, of Gilmer will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 with Rev. Robbie Caldwell and Steven Caldwell Officiating at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the family plot at Willow Oak Cemetery.

Larry was born on September 24, 1941 to Jack and Gussie Mae Carpenter Pittmon. He passed away February 22, 2016 in Longview.

Mr. Pittmon worked for several restaurants and retired from Norris Cylinder. Larry’s hobbies included lots of fishing, his love was playing and watching football, and he made the best raisin pies for family gatherings.
He was of the Baptist faith.

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Gilmer High School where he loved playing football on the 1958 Buckeye team, He was a 3 year letterman. 

He is survived by his brothers; Doyle and wife Kay of Nacogdoches, Jerry and his wife Frankie of Gilmer. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in various locations.

Mr. Pittmon is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Glenda of 22 years, brother Duran and sister in law Ollie; Sisters Patsy Jones and husband Travis, Bonnie Caldwell and husband Charlie, Nephews; Mike Pittmon and Richard Pittmon.
