Mrs L O Shockey Obit Contributed by: Merry G Smith Mrs. L. O. Shockey Died Here Tues. Service Thursday March 15, 1960 Mrs. L. O. Shockey died at 7:39 PM Tuesday at her Gilmer residence. At her death after a lengthy illness, she was 83 years, 8 months and 25 days old. Mrs. Shockey was a native of Cooke County and had resided in Upshur County for 60 years. Her husband, whom she married near Greenville, died in 1931. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ in Gilmer at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Harvey Arnold and Carl Tyson as officiating ministers. Pallbearers will be Edward Simpson, Herbert Taft, Allen Bland, Clinton Clark, Carl Loyd and R. C. Vivian. Burial will be at Mattox Cemetery with Loyd Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Surviving are a son, Jim Shockey and three daughters; Mrs. Ruby Gregory, Mrs. Dessie Willeford and Miss Evelyn Shockey, all of this county; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Alexander of Little Rock and Mrs. Laura Purdy of Rodesa, La. 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
