Mrs. Grace Smith
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Kate smith were held at 3 p.m. Friday at 
Graceton Church of Christ. Officiating ministers were H. H. Dickey and Carl 
Tyson. Burial was in Mattox Cemetery with nephews as pallbearers.
 
Mrs. Smith who had been a resident of Upshur County nearly all her life 
died at 6:30 am. Thursday here in a Gilmer hospital. She resided with her 
mother, Mrs. L. O. Shockey at 600 Allen in Gilmer.
 
At her death she was 63 years 2 months and 17 days old. A native of Cooke 
County, she had been residing here 58 years. She married the late Samuel A. 
Smith, Dec. 19, 1912 in Upshur County and he died in 1919. She had been a 
member of the Church of Christ since a young girl.
 
Surviving in addition to her mother are three sons, W. O. Smith of Lockport, 
N.Y. in the Air Force, Leslie Smith of San Jose Calif. and Ray Smith of Diana, 
one brother Jim Shockey of Diana; three sisters, Mrs. M. P. Gregory and Miss 
Evelyn Shockey both of Gilmer and Mrs. C. C. Willeford of Diana, and six 
grandchildren.
