Funeral services for Ray Smith of Rt. 5 Gilmer, were scheduled for 
Wednesday at 2 pm at the Loyd Chapel with Gilbert Thornton to officate.
 
Burial was to be at Mattox Cemetery. Named pallbearers were Pat Lindsey, 
Roy Stewart, Billy Jack Fowler, Ellis Tipton, Hubert Townsland and Pete 
Cargil.
 
Mr. Smith died Monday at Good shepherd Hospital of a brief illness at 
the age of 58 years, 5 months, and 11 days. He had resided all his 
life in Upshur County. He was an electric motor assemblyman at 
LeTourneau, Longview. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Little 
Rock, Ark. and a veteran of World War II.
 
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Annie Fay Smith; three sons, Larry Smith 
of gilmer, Charles Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla. and James smith of 
Beaumont; one brother, Leslie Smith of Marshall; and four grandchildren.
