Sperier, Billie Lee Pyland DIANA -- Graveside services for Billie Lee Pyland Sperier, 81, of Ore City, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Ore City Cemetery in Ore City, with the Rev. Pat Shannon officiating. Interment will be at Ore City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mrs. Sperier passed away from this life at the home of her daughter Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Lake Striker in Jacksonville. Mrs. Sperier was born May 5, 1924, in Marshall, to William G. and Ina Lee Pyland. She graduated from Marshall High School September 23, 1944, and married Alphonse Joseph Sperier Jr. in Coronada, Calif. She was active in her community and served as president of the PTA in 1962. She was mayor of Ore City from 1996-1997, and was a dispatcher for the police department for several years. She was a talented seamstress, an excellent cook, and loved to make creative floral arrangements, even winning ribbons as a garden club member. Mrs. Sperier was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lisa in 1970; her son, Michael David in 1990; and her husband, Al in 1997. Mrs. Sperier is survived by her daughter, Marcia Cantrell and her husband, Jim, of Lake Striker; her son, Patrick Sperier and his wife, Glenda, of Ore City; and her sisters, Joyce Gunnells of Ore City, and Dottie Hodge of Longview. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family, but her family rejoices that they will see her one day in her mansion in the sky. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. this evening, March 18, 2006, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
