Stewart, Elton Leroy GILMER -- Services for Elton Leroy Stewart, 83, of Longview, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, Texas, with Brother Gary Orr and Brother J.C. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Cemetery of Upshur County, Texas. Mr. Stewart passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in Longview. He was born March 4, 1923, in Upshur County, Texas, to John Madison Stewart and Lockie Lee Lewis Stewart. Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lead man at Marathon LeTourneau for 35 years, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean Stewart of Longview; sons, Larry Gene Stewart of Longview, Gary Wayne Stewart of Lone Star, Danny Joe Stewart of Kilgore, and David Lee Stewart of Overton; sister, Johnie Mae Hughes of Great Bend, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brian Holder, Christ Stewart, Kyle Nations, Jesse Stewart, Chris Vanden, James Roberts, and James Buckner. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Turner. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, January 4, 2007.
