Smith-Green, Betty Womack ENNIS - Betty Womack Smith-Green, 85, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007, in Austin. She was born in Houston to William Womack Sr. and Blanche Weatherford of Ennis. She was raised in Ennis and graduated in 1940 from Ennis High School. She then attended Baylor University. In June 1940, she married Frank W. Hunt Jr. He was killed in action in March 1943 in World War II in the North Atlantic. They lived in Rock Port, Texas. She then married Harold Smith February 14, 1963, and lived in Garland and then Lancaster. They moved to Gilmer in 1976, and after Mr. Smith's death, she married Hubert Gordon Green in February 1999, and then moved to Austin after his death in February 2006. She worked for the Texas Employment Commission for 20 years as an office manager. She was a member of many clubs. She was heavily involved in Yamboree in Gilmer. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Gilmer, Daughters of the King, Altar Guild, Eastern Star, Upshur County Library Board, Friends of Upshur County Library, (past president) Dahlia Garden Club, (past president) Beta Sigma Phi, and was First Lady of Gilmer 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hunt Jr., in 1943; husband, Harold Smith, in November 1995; husband, Hubert Gordon Green in 2006; and one sister, Scottie Harrison. She is survived by one son, Frank W. and his wife, Barbara Hunt of Austin; two stepdaughters, Sue Smith of Dallas and Kathy Higby of Houston; one brother, Billy and Phyllis Womack of El Paso; two grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today, November 4, 2007, at Myrtle Cemetery with Father Dennis Smart officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
