UPSHUR COUNTY - MORRIS CEMETERY


Services for John Emory Shuler, 47, of Gilmer will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday June 23, 2016 at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Pastor Jan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the funeral home.

John was born September 8, 1968 in Irving, Texas. He passed away June 18, 2016 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

John was a man of faith and a member of Triumphant Christian Center in Longview, TX. He lived his life with vigor and passion. On April 23, 1988, in Gladewater, TX, he married Stacy Knight Shuler, and spent the last 28 years devoted to her and their family. They had two daughters, Sunni Anne Shuler and Leora Grace Shuler that he cherished and adored, and they all survive him to carry on the legacy of love and family that he spent his lifetime demonstrating.

John was the President of the Upshur County Youth Soccer Association and committed countless hours of service to the youth of Upshur County. He was dedicated to leaving his community a better place and worked tirelessly to do that through soccer.

John was preceded in death by his parents, James Shuler and Quana Belle Gulledge.

He is also survived by his sister, Bettina Lance, as well as a multitude of friends that will all feel the loss of his warmth and enthusiasm.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Escalante, Ben Dodd, Jae Elwell, Glen Gulledge, Felipe Ibarra, and Buddy Clift.
