GLADEWATER - Services for Evelyn Cecil Smith, 89, of Gladewater, 
will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, at East Mountain 
Baptist Church, with Larry W. Osborne and the Rev. Wes Sherman 
officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.

Born September 22, 1918, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Warren and 
Mabel Abner, she entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 
16, 2008. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother and 
grandmother. She was a member of East Mountain Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rome 
Smith of White Oak; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Tom 
Schweizer of Union Grove, Betsy and Joel Amos of Longview and 
Molly Turner of Union Grove; grandchildren, Amanda Ray of Dallas, 
Tim and Shelley Turner of Mount Pleasant, Jeff and Jill Ray of 
Dallas, Jason Amos of Phoenix, Arizona, Tammy Amos of Frisco, 
Leslie Finklea of Gladewater, Sarah and Jim Deaton of Wichita 
Falls, John Paul Smith of Los Angeles, California, and Paul and 
Caroline DuPuy of Marathon; seven great-grandchildren; sister-
in-law, Aletha Berwick; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerome 
O'Byrne Smith; her parents; and all seven siblings.

Church, 315 East Mountain N., Gilmer, TX 75645.

No formal visitation is scheduled.
