Services for William E. “Bill” Smith, 69, of Gilmer will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M Friday, December 11, 2015.
William was born on April 1, 1946 to Earnest F. Smith and Maxie B. Smith in Tyler. He passed from this life December 9, 2015 at his home in East Mountain.
Known to his family and friends as Bill, he graduated from White Oak High School in 1967, attended college, and served his country in the Air Force. A lifelong motorcycle rider, he was a member of the “HOGS” and served with the Patriot Guard. Bill enjoyed building and flying model planes.
Bill was well known in the area as the owner of Bill’s Fix It appliance repair. He could fix just about anything.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith, a brother Bobby Smith, and six step children, and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
