UPSHUR COUNTY - SUNSET MEMORIAL PARK GILMER — Funeral services for James Edwin Turner, 80, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer, with Bro. Marion Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Turner passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his residence. He was born October 23, 1930, in Wood County, to William Wylie and Mattliane Hill Turner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea, retired owner of Turner's Super Service from 1973-93, had lived in Upshur County most of his life, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Gilmer. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Turner of Gilmer; sons, Eddie Turner of Palestine and Barry Turner of Aubrey; grandchildren, Alex Albright, Gregory Albright and David Gray; and great-grandchildren, Madison Wall and Jaxton Garcia. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Aryon McGuire, Steve Sansom, J.L. Shaw, Bill McGuffin, James Johnson and Richard Yazell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Thomas Sunday school class. Memorial contributions may be made to the Etex Chapter Pilots for Christ, P.O. Box 220, Gilmer, TX. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m, today, June 12, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home Gilmer.
