West, Jewell Nelson Jewell Nelson West, 89, of Longview, went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2006. She was surrounded by her family at home in East Mountain. Services will be at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 1 p.m., with Chaplain Arnold Shrewsbury officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park. Family visitation will be today, March 20, from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Mrs. West was a loving wife, mother, friend and a devoted Christian lady who loved the Lord and everyone around her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ardis Dewey "A.D." West; her father, Frank Nelson; her mother, Ethel Childers Nelson; stepfather, "Papaw" Dewey Juan; her sister, Evelyn Nelson Davis; her brother, Merle Nelson; her son-in-law, Keith Francis; her grandson-in-law, David Hansen; special uncle, Clarence Nelson; and special friend, who was like a brother to her, Bobby Dye. Mrs. West is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy West Wilson and Bob Wilson, Bonnie West Hickman and Lawrence Hickman, Sherry West Shively and Adrian Shively, Vicki Lynn West and Debra West Francis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wendy, Cindee, Jamie, Carolyn, Cindi, Jonathon, Jewell, Joel, Laura and West; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; aunt, Charlotte Nelson; cousin, Otis Posey; loving niece, Judy Davis Paul; and her loving pet companion, Yum Yum. The family gives thanks for Jewell and the way she touched not only her family's lives but also everyone around her. She always had a way of making you feel loved, no matter who you were. She opened her heart and made you feel good about yourself. She also loved animals and had numerous dogs, horses and cats. Her love for the mountains, especially in Colorado, made her happy and feel closer to the Lord. The family extends a special "thank you" to each and everyone at Heart'sWay Hospice for helping her in her last two years on this earth, and to Dr. Michael Leath for his kind and caring ways.
