Gilmer Daily Mirror September 18, 1937 Mrs. I.E. White Died of Burns As Clothing Ignited Mrs. Laura White, wife of Mr. I.E. (Irvine) White, died Friday afternoon as the result of burns suffered when her clothing caught fire several hours earlier. She had built a fire outdoors near their home in order to heat some bath water, and her clothing became ignited by the open flames. Mrs. White was alone at the time, her husband having gone to the pasture also to get the mail. When he returned, he found her seated on the ground, her clothing almost completely burned off and her body seared almost from head to foot. She was taken into the house, and lived for several hours, death coming at about 4:30 Friday afternoon. The tragedy occurred at about eleven o'clock, at the family home a short distance northeast of Pritchett. Mrs. White was 60 years of age August 29th of this year. Besides her bereaved husband, she leaves nine children as follows: Monnie (Mrs. Harmon M. Morgan) of West Mountain; Ruth (Mrs. W.E. Ray) of Enon; Cecil (Mrs. I.A. Atchley) of Longview; Bernice (Mrs. H.W. Watson) of Arkansas; Mary Frances (Mrs. Ray Hale) of Plainview, Texas; Miss Oneta White of San Francisco, Calif.; Raymond White of Oakland, Calif.; Messrs. Coy E., Doyce and Jack White of San Francisco. One son, Barney White died about eight years ago. The hour for the funeral had not been set Saturday, pending the arrival of the children from California, but services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, two miles south of Pritchett. Bro. W.C. Holloway of Pritchett will conduct the services.
