Contributed by Barbara Pollard Gilmer Mirror, February 6, 1936 MRS. DAN WHITE--DIED; BORN HERE 80 YEARS AGO Mrs. Sarah S. White, widow of the late Dan White, died at her home near Pritchett about 10 o'clock Tuesday night. She had reached her 80th birthday on January 2nd, but in spite of her advanced age had been active and in good health until the short illness that had proceeded her death. The late Mrs. White was one of the oldest citizens of this county. She was a daughter of Mr. Wesley Mings, one of the county's pioneers for whose family Mings Chapel community was named. She was born about a mile from Gilmer in 1856 and spent all her life in this county. Six sons and their families survive her. They are D.W., D.J., W.H., I.R., J.B. and Ratio White. All live in this county. Funeral services were held at Pritchett Tuesday afternoon.
