Wright, Larry Graveside services for Larry Wright, 69,of Longview, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Kelsey Cemetery, with Richard Johnston officiating. He died peacefully with his family by his side on February 4, 2007, following a brief illness. Larry Allen Wright was born September 18, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended school in Three Rivers, Texas, until his family transferred to Longview in 1954, where he completed his senior year and graduated from Longview High School in 1955. He went to Kilgore Junior College and Texas A&I University in Kingsville on football scholarships. As a defensive tackle, Larry led the Texas A&I "Javelinas" to the Holiday Bowl in Florida, where they won the National Championship in 1959. He graduated from Texas A&I University in 1960, with a degree in civil engineering. Larry joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1961, and was called up to active duty during the Cuban missile crisis. That same year, he married Sue Bunt of Longview. He worked at Sperry-Sun Co. until he joined his father-in-law, Carl Bunt, in partnership to form Globe Sign Co. in 1966. Larry retired to Oak Hill, where he enjoyed his numerous friends and neighbors, his beloved cattle, managing the land and watching his beautiful farm grow and prosper. He especially enjoyed his times on the farm with his special nephews, Andy and Craig Wright. Larry believed the outdoors were created for us to enjoy and appreciate; and, he felt so blessed to have been given the opportunity to share his love of land and animals with others. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Agnes Wright; brother, Jerry; sister-in-law, Jeanette; nephew, Little Wayne; and nephew, Scott Wright. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue; and three sons and daughters-in-law, Kyle and Renee, Jeff and Kelllye and Darren Wright. Grandchildren include Darby Wright, Lexi, Spencer and Whitney Wright and Taylor, Trevor, Bree and Brock Martin. Other survivors include siblings, Carolyn Deakins and husband, Wayne, Willard Wright and wife, Dorothy, of Peggy and Loretta Barnes and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Alice Wright; and nieces and nephews, Teresa, Sheri, Andy, Craig and Aaron. Other family members who meant the world to Larry are Ginger and Larry Henley, Max and Aunt Bunt, Deborah and Rick Johnston; nieces and nephews from the Bunt family include Jason and Shannon Henley, Brandon, Josh, Amber, Adam and Casey Johnston and Mark and Byron Bunt. Pallbearers will include Andy and Craig Wright, Josh, Adam, Casey and Brandon Johnston and Jason Henley. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Deakins, Bill Barnes, Kenneth Hayner, J.E. Reed, Horace Pepper, Larry Henley and LD. and John McCoy. Larry will always be remembered for his big heart and generosity to others. He loved the Bunt family as much as his own, and cooked for the whole family at fish fries, barbecues and family reunions. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
