UPSHUR COUNTY - MORRIS CEMETERY


GILMER – Funeral service for Wayne Wightman, 85, of Gilmer will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Reverend Richard Laster officiating. Interment will be in the Morris Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Wightman passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 in a Longview hospital.

Mr. Wightman was born on September 6, 1931, in Fremont, Ohio, to Vernon and Lucy Schoch Wightman. He was a retired instructor with Vanguard Vocational School in Fremont, Ohio and after moving to Gilmer he worked 18 years for Economy Auto Supply. Mr. Wightman was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gilmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Wightman of Gilmer; sons, David Wightman and wife, Alane of Ventura, California, Kenneth Wightman and wife, Tracy of Lewisville, Idaho and Tim Wightman and wife, Linda of Keller, Texas; daughter, Carol Gray and husband, David of Kyle; 11 grandchildren, Scott Wightman, Alyson Drost, Joey Wightman, Chris Langford, Ashley Kerr, Rachael Cates, Reagan Aguilera, Lauren Wightman, Madison Wightman, Courtney Wightman Burnett Clemons and Clint Wightman Burnett; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wightman is preceded in death by his son, Tom Wightman.

Pallbearers will be Chris Langford, Sam Aguilera, Scott Wightman, Rip Hill, Bruce Watts, Clayton Venn and Phillip Hill.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
