Emma (1876 – 1959) Documentation: Joseph Henry Bell was the best friend of Joseph Berry Wade and moved to Auraria, Lumpkin Co., Georgia with his friend during the nation\'s first Gold Rush. During the Civil War he married his best friend\'s daughter, Emily Adaline Wade. While Joseph Henry Bell was away at war Emily lived in the Calhoun Hotel in downtown Auraria, the old Gold Rush town. It was here their baby was born. The old hotel survived until about the year 2000. Joseph Bell was an explorer for gold mining companies and explored for them throughout the nation including California traveling through Upshur County on his way. Years later after the Civil War in 1869 the things he told the Wades about Upshur County led them and the Bells to move there.
