Comments: Alex MARSH moved to Upshur Co., TX with his brother (James MARSH) from Hawkins Co., TN in the fall of 1850.  Alex and James married sisters--Julia Francis SANDERS and Sarah Elizabeth "Betsy" SANDERS.  In the 1850 Upshur Co. census, Alex and Francis MARSH are living with another one of her sisters--Nancy Ann who is married to Benjamin Medford GREEN.  The three SANDERS sisters also have a brother living in Upshur
Co. in 1850--Ira Thomas SANDERS who married Elizabeth SKELTON. Family history says that Alex MARSH was a "personal assistant" to General Robert E. Lee during the Civil War, and that he was related to him. This has yet to be verified.  There was supposedly some blood relationship to Robert E. Lee, possibly through Alex's mother who was a LEE.
