March 7, 1920 - August 4, 2008 KILGORE - Funeral services for Ouida Reed French, 88, of East Mountain, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with the Rev. Aubrey Pate officiating. Private interment will be in East Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. French died Monday, August 4, 2008, in Longview. Ms. French was born March 7, 1920, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to the late Homer and Vena Reed. She was married on July 4, 1941, to the late Robert W. French to whom she was married for 42 years. The couple traveled during World War II and then moved to East Texas in 1945. They later moved to East Mountain in 1964. Mrs. French enjoyed her retirement, playing cards with friends, quilting and cooking fine holiday meals for her family. Ouida shared the last 20 years of her life with Thomas DeBaca. They traveled to many exciting destinations, and they enjoyed camping in the New Mexico Mountains. Ouida was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was also a Baptist. Ouida was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Walter Reed, formerly of Oklahoma. Survivors include Thomas DeBaca of New Mexico; daughter, Bobbie McKnight of White Oak; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Dean French of Timpson; and daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Doug Pilcher of White Oak. She was blessed with five grandchildren, DeDe Park of Gladewater, Lisa French of Gladewater, Brian Pilcher and wife, Laurie of White Oak, Laci McKnight of College Station, and Rhett Pilcher of White Oak; and two great-grandchildren, Skylar Stockstill and Tyler Park also survive her. Other survivors include her brother, Bill Reed and wife, Pat of Tyler; Ray Reed and wife, Dorothy of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and nephew, Raymond French and wife, Barbara of Plano.
