GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY


Graveside service for Walter C. McCown, 94, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater with Pastor C. Bill Voss officiating. Interment will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Mr. McCown passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in a Shreveport, LA hospital.

Mr. McCown was born August 10, 1920 in Valient, OK to Abern and Josie Perry McCown. He was retired from T&L Well Service, had lived in Upshur County for 62 years and was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mavis R. McCown of Gladewater; sons, Royal C. McCown, Spencer R. McCown and Walter C. McCown all of Gladewater; daughters, Syntha A. Parthemore of Gladewater and Frankie J. Copeland of White Oak; sister, Wynoma Day, of Dumas, AR; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. McCown was preceded in death by his parents and son, Abern McCown.

Pallbearers will be Spencer McCown, Daniel McCown, Corey McCown, Joseph Storey, David Curtis and Alex Milam.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Austin Johnson.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater, Texas.
