GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY Services for Maurice Martin Sherlock, 87, of Gladewater will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home with Carlis Stone, Dean Simmons and Bill Taylor sharing the honors of officiating and interment following at Gladewater Memorial Park. Music will be provided by granddaughter, Kim Sherlock Dodd. Mrs. Sherlock passed Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Tyler, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Maurice was born July 29, 1927 to Oin and Lula B. Martin in Concord, Texas. Clifford Sherlock and Maurice were married January 9, 1947 in Tyler, Texas in The First Church of the Nazarene in Tyler, Texas. Maurice was mother to three children, Linda Sherlock Prior (deceased) and son-in-law Ricky Prior of Pritchett, Wesley Sherlock and wife Angela of Gladewater , Donald Sherlock and wife Cindy of Big Sandy. She was also blessed to have 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a sister to Betty Ann Webb of Whitehouse, brother-in-law Lester Webb (deceased), brothers, Gene Leslie Martin and sister-in-law Jeannie of Victoria, Texas and David Martin and sister-in-law Wanda Martin of Longview. Mrs. Sherlock is preceded in death by brothers, Clifton Martin of Pasadena and Dean Martin of White Oak and two infant sisters, Venice and Venita Beth Martin of Troup. Maurice Sherlock filled her life with family and those activities that brought joy and meaning to her life. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene having a big role in the building of the church in Gladewater, Texas. Maurice and her husband Clifford were owners and operators of the Chamberlain Butane in Gladewater for 23 years and later retired to Lake Hawkins. Maurice loved to travel and camp. She enjoyed looking at the serenity of the lake and the wild life that would come to share her back yard. Her greatest joy was her family and she always loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and of course all the many friends who would stop in for a visit. Maurice and Clifford were well known CB Radio enthusiasts. They were known all over the United States, Africa, England, France, Germany, and Ireland. They gathered friends and acquaintances through many years. Maurice was a woman of many talents, a co worker to her husband for 23 years, his best friend and bride for 68 years, mother to three children, sister, and dear friend. She was truly a woman of God who lived her life in praise and honor of Him. She told of His wondrous works in her own life as well as the lives of her family. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ricky Prior, John Finney, Jarrett Finney, Dwight Day, Nathan Dodd, Cliff Fincher and Matt Bert. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M in the Chapel of Croley Funeral Home.
