CREMATION OR CEMETERY - UPSHUR COUNTY Gladewater ~ A Memorial Celebration for Helen June Gibbons Taylor, 81, formerly of Lovington, New Mexico is pending with Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas and will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Bailey Harris will officiate. Helen passed into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2015, in Longview, Texas. Helen June Taylor was born to Harold and Eunice Gibbons in Gladewater on June 18, 1933. She completed high school at Gladewater where she was the editor of the school paper, “The Bear Facts.” A member of the First Baptist Church, she loved her Sunday school class and weekly Bible studies. Helen taught young women in Sunday school and was an active member of the Gladewater Music Club. Helen raised her family in Lovington, New Mexico, where she was the editor of the local town paper for many years. Eventually, she went to work for GTE where she worked until retirement. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Merrit Gibbons, and her former husband Chester Taylor. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Taylor, and wife Chris; Judy Crow, and husband, Leonard; and Mark Taylor. Helen was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Jared, and wife Bridget; K’Len, and husband Joshua; Kyle, and wife, Cally; and Jeremy; and 6 great grandchildren. Her brothers include Joel Gibbons, and wife, Sue; John Gibbons, and wife, Anne; and sister, Karen McFall. She had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
