Services for Bro. James Ray Young Sr., 74, of Gilmer, will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Bro. Teddy Sorrells and Bro. Randy Stracener officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at McWhorter Funeral Home.
James Ray was born on November 29, 1941 to James C. and Ruby Young in San Antonio. He passed from this life December 13, 2015 in Longview.
Bro. James was a minister for 48 years, as well as a great businessman. He loved horses, and spending time with his grandchildren whom were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Young; children, Faron & Deborah Young, Cynthia & Gary Grant, Tanyia & Tommy Click, Johnny & Sandy Young, Joyce McDowell, James Ray & Catherine Young, and NaNette & Phil Sampson. Brothers-in-law; Andy Clark, Wayne Toliver, Kenneth & Pearl Whittle, Larry & Helen Whittle, Randy Whittle, Ronnie & Delaine Whittle. Sister-in-law; Marquita & Roy Betts. 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Janette Toliver and Jessie Clark; 2 grandchildren, Jared Young and Sara Click.
