Todd had joined the El Paso Fire Deppartment on July 27, 1910. The fire was discovered at 2:15 A.M. in the three story building and burned until late in the afternoon. A falling wall at 9:45 A.M. killed fireman Ware and El Paso's Mayor and injured another fireman.
