o'clock this morning Gus Crider came for me to go down to Mr. Durbin's
and baptise their Baby as it was about to die. When I got there
Mrs. Tutt had already performed the rite. It just lived a little
while after I got there. I came back home and put the horse to
the buggy and went to Johnson City for a coffin. I could not get
one so they made one at home. John Johnson got crowbar, pick and spade to dig a grave for Mr. Durbin's Youngest Child who died this morning. Mr. Stewart and Tom Maddox came here and got boards to make a coffin for the child. |

I hitched the
horses to the buggy and started to Mary's just after dinner as they
phoned from Round Mountain that her baby was very sick. Isabella
went with me and we got to Mary's at Half past three P.M. James and Isabella got home from Mary's. The child died last night about 10 o'clock and was buried today and James and Isabella left after the funeral. I am still at Mary's. Her baby died last night at twenty minutes after ten. The funeral was at about three o'clock P.M. |
