Richard McDowell Johnson "RMDJ" Elliott was born in County
Down, Ireland in 1767 and died in Bowie County, Texas in 1853.
He landed in this country at Charleston, South Carolina. In
1801 he married Jane McCullough Chisholm, the widow of Alexander Chisholm

men were members of the Masonic Lodge and that their records could
be found in Waco at the Masonic Temple. In 1850 RMDJ was 82 years
old and gave his occupation as Methodist Minister. He was one
of the first Methodist ministers in Bowie County.
