Looking for any information on the family of Rufus K. Wheeler (b. ca.1836, GA -- d. 10 Nov 1880, Hopkins Co., TX)
and his wife, Mary Jane Askew (b. Aug 1846, Tyler Co., TX -- d. 09 July 1934, Oak Grove, Bowie Co., TX). Known children:
John H. WHEELER and Joseph L. WHEELER. John H.(b. 1881, TX) married about 1901 Lota ??? (b. 1884, AL) and had the
following children: Tommie b. 1903, Frankie (f) b. 1904, Jessie (f) b. 1906, Johnnie (f) b. 1908 and Elmer J., b. Apr
1910, all in TX.
CRAIN: I'm researching the James B. Crain family. JBCrain came from Ohio to MS, married Susana SLATER in 1838 and
migrated to Bowie Co. My GGF James Monroe Crain was born in Bowie Co. in 1842. the family migrated to Port Lavaca, then
Indianola, Calhoun Co. and then to Goliad. Thomas Freeman CRAIN, James Monroe's brother reloacated to Bowie Co. in 1902
and died there in 1908. T.F.'s wife was Annie Elizabeth Threlkeld. I would appreciate any information about any of these
people, especially James B. CRAIN. I have reason to believe that James B. had a relative in Bowie Co.
SHEFFIELD, KILGO/KILGORE/FULLER. Seeking information in general on Sheffields who moved to Texas in the 1835-1890
period from the southeastern US, especially MS, AL, GA and NC. I am specifically interested in learning about the
descendents of Jackson Kilgo (Kilgore?) and his wife, Sarah Sheffield Kilgo, who likely moved to Bowie Co. Texas between
1870-1880. Jackson and Sarah had at least the following children: Mary (b. 1859), Nancy (b. 1861), Elizabeth (b. 1866),
Ida (b. 1868) and Everett (Emmit?)(b. 1869). I am also interested in the fate and descendents of Mary Armina Sheffield,
born in Itawamba Co., MS in 1848, and her son Walter, born in Itawamba or Prentiss Co., MS about 1868. Nancy Armina
might have been married to a Fuller, thus Walter's last name may have been Fuller rather than Sheffield.
JONES-PICKETT-COYLE I am searching for info on the above family lines. My great grandfather (JONES, George Wesley -
b. abt 1882 in AR) came to TX and married PICKETT, Etta Prena (b. abt 1-18-1888 in Saltillo, TX of Hopkins Co. / d. 2-6-
1953 in TX). They had 2 children together. JONES, Edgar (b. 12-24-1903 in Bexar Co., TX / d. 12-8-1987 in Pocahontas,
AR) JONES, Annie May (b. 4-3-1907 in TX / d. 6-22-1919 in TX) GW took Edgar and returned to AR before 1909; leaving
Annie with her mother (Etta). Annie died in a lightening storm while working in the fields. Etta Prena Pickett was the
daughter of Jim PICKETT and Sarah HATCHEL. PICKETT, Jim (b. abt 1860 in TN / d. in TX) HATCHEL, Sarah (b. abt 1862 in TN
/ d. in TX) Daughter of H.G. and Nancy Hatchel. Jim and Sarah were married about 1887 and had children besides Etta:
PICKETT, Bessie (b. abt 1889) PICKETT, Henry (b. abt 1890) PICKETT, Emma Etta remarried after GW returned to AR to
COYLE, Benjamin Franklin. They had several children: Leon, Bob, Leo, Cleo, & Orver. I would appreciate any info on
these people or family lines. I may be contacted at gmmorgan@tcac.com
I am researching the DAFFRON family name in Titus and Bowie County's in Texas. I need to prove that Marshall
Daffron's son John, was the one who married Josephine TEANOR. John died shortly after the Civil War, and Josephine took
the children to Fort Smith, Arkansas.

I am looking for information on Francis Marion MEEKS, his wife Amanda, and their family. They had moved from Clark
County, Ark. shortly before the turn of the century and were living in Maud, Texas in the 1900-1902 time frame. I would
like to find out where they may have gone from here, of if they died in Bowie Co., when and the name of the cemetery in
which they are buried. Any information would be appreciated.
