I'm trying to locate any info on HANCOCK's living in Bowie Co. in the early 1900s. I'm especially interested in
William HANCOCK. Family members claim that he died at a train station while visiting some of his children about 1911-
1913. I've been told that he died and was buried in or around Texarkana, Dalby Springs, or Dekalb, TX. Does this sound
familiar to anyone? I'm also looking for James or Jett HANCOCK. He may have been in Bowie County between 1900 and 1920.
John W WOMBLE b. 1825 Bedford Co, Tn. with wife, Jane WOOD b. 1832 Tn. and his mother, Joanna Warren WOMBLE are
listed on 1850 Bowie Co. census. The 1860 Montague Co. census lists him with wife Mary B. and chrn: Nancy E., Alice C.,
Jarrold S. and John Warren. Seeking death date and burial place of John W. He was the first Postmaster of Head of Elm in
1860. What was Mary B. last name? She was wed to John B GRAFT on 1870 Montague Co census. Nancy wed Henry A BLAINE,
Alice wed W A WILLIAMS, Jarrold wed Eliza(beth) BOX and John Warren wed Telithe CUMI. Any info on this family will be
most appreciated.
McCORKLE, LONG, JONES, SHOCKLEY -Have info on Abram O. McCORKLE, b 1818, who m Malinda SHOCKLEY in 1840 in AL,
Thomas C. LONG, b 1831, m Abigail SHOCKLEY in 1885 in TX, and Joseph F. JONES, b 1824, m Nancy Mary SHOCKLEY. These
families were on the 1850 & 1860 census in Anderson and Cherokee Co, TX. McCORKLE stayed in Anderson/Cherokee Co,
LONG moved to Hunt Co (Greenville), TX, JONES died in Bowie Co, TX in 1860's. I am tracking the SHOCKLEY families and

Seek information about the Bushrod W. LUMPKIN family of Bowie County, Texas. He was born in 1819 in Ga and married
about 1836 Mary Thomas MARTIN. In the late 1850s they moved to Bowie County, where they are listed in 1860 with the
following children, born about every two years, beginning in 1838: George Joshua, Roena A., Washington T., Julia A.,
mary F., Bushrod, Robert E., probably Enos after Mary's brother, daughter S.H., son P.W., son S.D., William, and Thomas.
The last two were born in Texas with Thomas' birth in 1861. In 1870, Mary is listed but her husband is not, apparently
dead. George married Joannah Adcock. Mary died 3 March 1874. They lived in Boston town and Powell Grove. Any information
appreciated. Did any of these fight in the civil War? .
I am searching for any information concerning Barton Sanuel LEMAY b. 1861 in Penn. He married Julia Hanna WILSON on
9 June 1891 in Bowie Co.,Texas. They appeared in the 1900 Bowie Co. Census, with their four children. Carl b. 1892,

LONG, T. C.-Looking for info and descendants. First name may be Thomas. He came to Bowie Co in 1861, from Cherokee
Co, TX. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Boston. He moved to Ladonia, Fannin Co, in 1872. Enlisted in Civil War in 1862 in
Bowie Co. Wife may be Abigail SHOCKLEY and children, N. Long,born in 1854, and E. Long, born 1857. Have lots of info on
him and SHOCKLEYS. Will share or give any info you need.
My grandmother, Ethel Eudora LEWIS b 1896, and some of her siblings, were born in Daingerfield, TX. Her parents
were married there in 1892. They were John Wesley Sellers LEWIS b 1855 in TN d 1919 in Texarkana, and Sarah Evelyn
NESBETT b 1866 in Avinger, TX d 1917 in Texarkana. The other children in the family were Bertha LEWIS, John LEWIS, Jim
LEWIS, Mary Madeline LEWIS, Herman LEWIS, and Floyd Wesley LEWIS. John Wesley Sellers LEWIS also married his first wife
in Daingerfield. She was Elizabeth LEWIS b abt 1864 d abt 1890. They were married in Daingerfield Sept 6, 1883. The
children from that marriage are Willie Leola LEWIS, Tommie Luella LEWIS, and Lucy LEWIS. I have many family connections
to East Texas, and an anxious to exchange information.
