Merle
Farquhar Feild, 88, passed away Thursday, May 19, at
Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a brief
illness.
She
was born in Lake Victor, Texas, on July 16, 1916, to
Bertha and Ed Farquhar, who
preceded her in death. Merle was a faithful
member of the Lake Victor Baptist Church since the
age of 13. She graduated from Lake Victor High
School in 1934, and attended and graduated from
Nixon Clay Business School in Austin. After
graduating, she worked as a secretary at the Court
House in Lampasas prior to her marriage to Brownlee
Feild on August 25, 1938. She was a
devoted Christian wife and mother and worked
side-by-side with Brownlee raising turkeys and
tending livestock while raising two children.
She was a member of quilting and home demonstration
clubs and assisted with cemetery surveys. She
also participated in U.S. Census taking for several
years and enjoyed gathering family history.
Merle
is survived by her husband, Brownlee, and son Jack
and wife, Vivian of Burnet; and daughter Jan
Whisenant and husband, Ron, of
Dallas. Grandchildren are Barbara and
Mort Smith, Jack and Verna Feild, and Ricky and
Melinda Feild , all of Katy, Texas.
Great-grandchildren are Curtis and Callie
Smith, Ashley and Cassidy Feild, and Dwain Sutton
and Justin Feild, also of Katy. She
is also survived by a sister, Billie
Puryear of Crowley, Texas, sister-in-law
Maggie Feild of Burnet; and nieces, Carol
Young, Dianne Duddington and Judy Westphal.
Services
will be held on May 22nd at 2:p.m. at Edgar Funeral
Home in Burnet with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery
near Lake Victor. Pallbearers will be Jack
Feild, Jr., Ricky Feild, Mort Smith, Buddy Feild,
Charles Barrett, Marion Ferguson, Brownlee Bowmer
and Robert Duty. Honorary pallbearers are
Worth Hutto, Emmitt Jackson, Nolan Warner, John
Bowden, Jim Richey and Jim Cummings.
