W. C. Galloway was born in Butler County, Alabama on October 25th, 1856; died in a Temple hospital on December 29th, 1936. Mr. Galloway moved to Texas in 1878, first settling in Blanco County. In 1882 he moved to Burnet, and with the exception of a short interval, was a citizen of this county until his death. On July 1st, 1885, he was united in marriage to Mary Beaugard Clark, who preceeded him in death by about one and a half years. They are survived by the following children: W. C. Galloway Jr., Evergreen, Alabama; Harry H. Galloway of Burnet; and Miss Clark Galloway of Burnet. Dating almost from his arrival in Burnet, a period of about 54 years, Mr. Galloway was an important and leading factor in the business life of Burnet. He served Burnet County as a Tax Collector and made an unusually efficient officer. Since the organization of the First State Bank of Burnet in 1908, and until his death, Mr. Galloway served as Cashier. For several years prior to his death, he had been Mayor of Burnet, and took merited pride in the things that had been accomplished during his term of office, the greatest of which was the installation of the city water works system. It was during his tenure of office in which several miles of city paving was secured. During the dark days of the depression, Mr. Galloway took as much interest in city affairs as he did in his own business and the town's growth and development was a source of great pride to him. from
