From the Burnet Bulletin, 28 March 2001 Durwood K. Kelley, 74, of Lampasas died on March 19, 2001. Durwood was born on Dec. 6, 1926 in Briggs to Herschel and Sally Knight Kelley. He grew up in Briggs and graduated from Briggs high school. He then lived in Roby, Texas for 10 years before moving to Lampasas in 1963, where he has remained. He married Susie McKullen, and was a self employed rancher, horse breeder and trainer. Durwood was a member of the Farm Bureau, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lampasas. Survivors include wife Susie McKullen Kelley of Lampasas, sons Wayland Kelley and wife Donna of Lake Victor, Shawn Kelly and wife Frances of Lampasas, Shane Kelley and wife Farrah of Elbert, Colorado, and step-son Sonny Love of Waco, daughters Connie Roark and husband Ronnie of Odessa, Step-daughters Evonne Love of Marble Falls, Michelle Smith of Waco and Chris Cowan of Georgia, 7 grandchildren, 3 grandaughters, 1 step-grandaughter and 3 step-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Zoe Russell and Doris Kelley. Graveside services were held on Wed., March 21 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Barnard, Minister Reid Schaub and Dr. John Allsup officiating. Visitation was held on Tues. evening from 6-8 at Briggs Gamel Funeral Home in Lampasas. Burial at Cauble Cemetery in Burnet County.
