Gideon Paloris Lyda was the first Lyda to purchase land and live in Burnet County. He was a well-known horse breeder.

 He was born 3 Sept 1851 in Macon County, Missouri, and died in Burnet County, Texas 1 June 1904.

He married (2) Abigail Jane Bible, daughter of Samuel Bible, who was born 31 Dec 1871 in Cocke County, Tennessee, and died 25 May 1959.
