Joseph Frederick Pangle was born in 1844 in Tennessee.  He married Sophronia Elizabeth Faubion in 1869 and had 8 children:
  • John Horace Pangle, b. 1872
  • George Faubion Pangle, b. 1873
  • James Claude Pangle, b. 1876
  • Margaret Elizabeth Pangle, b. 1879
  • Clyde Frederick Pangle, b. 1882
  • Sarah Eula Pangle, b. 1886
  • Eliza Catherine Pangle, b. 1890
  • Joseph Langdon Pangle, b. 1893
