was born April 7, 1918 in Waldrip, Texas, the

son of

Mary Thankful (Hoover) Stewart of Burnet

and

Joseph D. Stewart of Richland Springs, Texas.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Daniels) Stewart, who spent the duration of the war with her parents, Arley and Mary Wentworth (White) Daniels in Harrison, Arkansas. 

He enlisted in the Army 24 Aug 1940 at Lometa, Lampasas County and received training in Army Mechanics School at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio TX, and Fort Crockett, Galveston, Texas, going overseas 12 July 1942 and returning 4 June 1945. 

He served with 330th Ordnance Depot Company in the following campaigns:

Tunisian-Sicily;
Naples-Foggia;
Rome-Arno; and
Algeria-French Morocco. 

He earned the

AME CampaignMedal with 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal,
and American Defense Service Medal.

He was honorably discharged on 22 June 1945 at Fort Sam Houston with 4 years, 10 months of Army Service. 

A daughter was born in 1943 while he was overseas.
