A crowd of young people made this welkin ring with their merriment Thursday night, while boating on the lake.  The music of such pleasures make one  long to be a boy again, instead of a much-cussed editor. [T. H. Parkhill, Pub.]


Eugene Burt, who will be executed on Friday May 27, has requested the sheriff to furnish him writing material.  Burt has intimated that he would make a statement before the day of execution arrived.

Wanted--To rent a nice cool cave.  Must be situated on Colorado hills and have plenty of brush around it.  Want possession till close of war.  --Ed. Liberty Hill Index.


Frank Marshall, of Waco, is assistant engineer on the Olympia, the flagship of the Asiatic squadron, and was in the thick of the fight at Manilla.
W. T. Cody, or "Buffalo Bill," desires a still more famous name and wants to command some of the Cuban forces.


The union picnic of the Sunday schools on last Saturday was well attended and greatly enjoyed despite the cool weather.
