WILBARGER, Josiah - "Early Texas Pioneer Survived Scalping at Hands of Indians". Story about Mr. Wilbarger, who was scalped in 1833 and lived for 11 years afterward. The incident occurred near Pecan Springs, an early settlement between Austin and Manor. A neighbor, Mrs. Hornsby, reportedly had a dream of the scalping and urged her husband to search for the man, which undoubtedly saved his life. |
