Another Cass County Civil War Veteran was JAMES WILEY FRANKLIN COOK (Wesley, John Drury, Drury, Henry Cooke, John, William, William, Phillip, Richard) James was born Apr 18, 1829 in Henry County, Georgia, and died Mar 14, 1909 in Cass County, Texas. He married Mary Elizabeth Howell Sep 24, 1857 in Russell County, Alabama. James and wife Mary left Alabama immediately after marriage for Texas. On their way to Texas they stopped in Louisiana to make a crop in 1858, where their oldest son, William Fletcher Cook, was born. They were in Cass County, Texas in 1860, 1870, and 1880. Children of James Cook and Mary Howell were: William Fletcher Cook, Mary Ann Elizabeth Cook, Georgeann Eliza Cook, Martha Rebecca Scott Cook, James Wesley Neal Cook, Nathaniel Jackson Cook, Daniel Casper Cook, Sarah Heard Cook, Sophronia Sawyer Cook, Robert Elbert Lee Cook, Louisa Drucilla Addryann Cook, Virginia Antionette Cook (my Great Grandmother), and Jesse Baring Cook. I have two copies of a hand written letters from James Wiley to his wife and one from him to his parents during the war. I have typed them up and they can be read here.
